The house lies in the little town of Eyrarbakki, about 45 minutes drive from Reykjavik and about an hour from Geyser, Gullfoss and Thingvallasletten, three of Iceland’s biggest, but by no means only, tourist attractions.
We bought the house in 1998 and have since then, renovated it to tip-top condition, with all modern conveniences; fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, bath, TV, video. In other words a cosy and well-functioning home, roomy enough for eight on three storeys.
From the lounge on the second floor, there is a view out over the sea, with the Westmann Islands visible on the horizon. The room has two cosy alcoves each with room for two.
On the first floor is another lounge, the kitchen and a guest-W.C. On the ground-floor a bedroom with room for four and a lovely big bathroom with W.C.
The car is an automatic Dodge Ram V8 with room for eight passengers. Whilst it is a powerful car which will easily take ordinary road-network driving on the in it’s stride, it is NOT suitable for off-roading.
